Translation Studies

The Translation Studies program at Adabistan is a specialty program that aims to promote a creative yet ethical practice of translation. This program places emphasis on educating students about the importance and urgency of reading and writing in translation in our contemporary literary culture. We introduce our students to classical and contemporary translation theory and help them practice their skills by inviting them to collaborate with the faculty on various translation projects and publications. We particularly focus on translating Urdu literary texts into English in order to bring the rich, vibrant literature and culture of Pakistan to the global Anglophone audience.
