Literary Studies

Our Literary Studies program offers a rich and diverse experience for students interested in studying the ideas, history, and theory of literature in English. The program features a creative, dynamic group of faculty members working across the entirety of English literature. Our faculty provides instruction in a variety of established as well as emerging fields of inquiry: from digital humanities to critical theory, from Pakistani Anglophone literature to classical rhetoric, and from gender studies to major American authors. This program develops skills in close textual reading, critical analysis, literary interpretation, essay writing, and literary theory. We provide an intellectually rigorous but flexible course of study to develop a focus on the significant issues in rhetoric, language, literacy, and creativity in contemporary society.
